Abstract :
The electric field intensity and specific absorption rate (SAR) distribution are calculated in multilayer cylindrical mammalian cells exposed to an EM plane wave at 900 and 2450 MHz. A comparative analysis with simple models (cytoplasm and membrane only) shows that cytoplasmic and extra-cellular bound water layers considerably modify the E field magnitude within the membrane. Orientation of the cell and polarization effects between cells also play an important role in the field absorption distribution.
