Abstract
A new class of miniaturized multi-pole broadband microstrip bandpass filters is proposed and developed by using the parallel-coupled line with frequency-distributed coupling and a line resonator loaded with open-end stubs. Operating mechanism of such a filter is explained, and its frequency response is optimized to show attractive features of the new scheme, namely, broad bandwidth of about 60% and single-resonator four-pole filtering behavior with S11<¿30dB. The total length of this filter is in the range of 0.5 to 0.75 guided wavelengths. The optimized results are well verified by HP Momentum simulations as well as our measurements over a wide frequency range.
