Abstract
Small arrays with closely spaced elements are analyzed with respect to the impact of mutual coupling on gain degradation and correlation between different port patterns. In order to meet concurrently the demands for mutually orthogonal port patterns and maximum gain, a novel antenna circuit for the decoupling of the antenna ports is introduced. A two-port antenna with λ/10 spaced printed monopoles serves as a simple example for the verification of the approach.
