Abstract
When wavelet-based approximations are used in numerical calculations, the choice of the wavelet can have radical influence on the numerical error. In this paper, the approximation properties of Daubechies wavelets for typical electromagnetic field problems are examined. We focus on the approximation of the electromagnetic field for differential operators. Several methods are applied to decide which wavelet type works best for a given problem.
