Abstract
The definition of S transform was respectively deduced from short time Fourier transform and continuous wavelet transform. The simulation experiment indicates that S transform behaves itself with better time-frequency analysis and positioning capability. It is feasible to adopt S transform to investigate the time-frequency characteristics of engine induction noise in acceleration. Engine induction noise was recorded in acceleration. S transform was employed to analyze the recorded signals. The analysis results show that the signal energy of induction noise is mainly concentrated nearby the linearly modulated frequency band defined by the fundamental frequency, which increases with engine speed. The analysis results are helpful to engine induction noise control.
