Abstract
Ultra-wideband (UWB) tightly coupled array is developed and employed for operation in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) and diversity settings. These arrays have very low profiles and are based on overlapping small dipoles to deliver large bandwidth using a small size aperture. Therefore, nominal size apertures can be segmented for MIMO applications. We show that low profile array with total size of 0.5λ × 0.5λ × 0.1λ at 1-GHz can be segmented into two antennas having 20dB isolation over a bandwidth exceeding 3:1.
