Abstract :
Nowadays digital techniques are being proposed to compensate for chromatic dispersion in metropolitan and regional optical communication networks. Electronic dispersion compensation can be performed at the receiver or at the transmitter by predistorsion. Electronic predistorsion is usually more complex than electronic equalization, because it requires very high speed digital electronics. In this paper a much simpler technique, based on analog predistorsion, is described. The performance and the capabilities of this technique are analyzed in the case of 10 Gb/s Non-Return-to-Zero (NRZ) signals.
