  • Abstract
In an economically challenging situation process management is one of the main topics in the industry. Stable and lead time reducing business processes are a key factor for the success of a company in today´s market environment. Especially, limited-lot producers suffer from the economic situation due to their project based business. In addition, they usually lack any kind of professional process management as their size does not allow to cope professionally with such long-term management issues. Scientists of the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering WZL of the RWTH Aachen University developed a tool called aixperanto to model business processes especially for limited-lot producers. The intention of aixperanto is to present and analyze business processes holistically and truthfully. One main aspect of aixperanto is to integrate the personnel as early as possible. By integrating those who are involved in and affected by the business process directly, reorganizations of business processes can be implemented much easier.
