Abstract
Static phase shifters (SPSs) are new FACTS devices. They can offer both static and dynamic controls of power flows in power systems. This paper reports the build-up of an SPS mathematical model that can be applied to the transient stability analysis of a multimachine system. The simulation results reveal the potential of using SPS for enhancing the transient stability of power systems
