Abstract
In this paper we preliminarily evaluate the possibility to use a supercontinuum based device to in-line monitor RZ transmission link at 40Gb/s and above. The cumulated PMD is supposed to be of first order and by sake of simplicity we assume that is the only cumulated impairment. In case of first order PMD at link end, each pulse will be split over two orthogonal polarization which will be delayed in time.
