Abstract :
Single carrier modulation (SCM) is one of the two standardized modulation types for the evolving very high rate digital subscriber line (VDSL). The key element of an SCM receiver is the decision feedback equalizer (DFE). We apply an analytical approach to performance evaluation of finite-length minimum mean square error (MMSE) DFE which takes into account number of equalizer taps and oversampling factor. Based on these means, performance results for two typical VDSL. test loops are presented neglecting the analog front end´s (AFE) influence and focusing on fractionally spaced equalization.
