  • Abstract
This paper deals with diagnostic reasoning based on functional models. The purpose of this paper is twofold: (i) to present an approach to functional diagnosis with generalized efforts and flows (FDf ); and (ii) to discuss in detail how the traditional minimum entropy approach to test prescription can be instantiated in FDf . After a brief illustration of the functional role model and the process model in the multimodeling approach, we present and formalize the FDf approach. Then, we briefly present the minimum entropy approach to test prescription, and show in detail how that approach can be instantiated and simplified in the functional domain. Some diagnostic examples are analysed. Finally, we discuss briefly the status of the implementation and current work
