  • Abstract
    In this study, importance of optical amplifiers which are used in optical communication systems is explained and gains of EDFA, Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier, and YDFA, Ytterbium Doped Fiber Amplifier, which are among the most commonly used optical amplifiers today, are analysed based on their performance parameters. The effects of the power of input signal, the power of pump laser, the length of doped fiber which is used for amplification and the wavelength of the input signal on the gains of the optical amplifiers are examined by the setups which are prepared by OptiSystem 7.0 simulation program. The analyses have shown that the gain of EDFA is superior to that of YDFA.
