Abstract
Vegetation monitoring based on remote sensing technique is very important for the policy making of ecological restoration. Two CBERS images of Yanchi County, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region of China, accepted in August 23, 2002 and September 5, 2006 respectively, were selected for this study. Based on two components sub-pixel model, the vegetation coverage of 2002 and 2006 and changes between them were calculated and analyzed. The result showed that the vegetation coverage decreased from 45.6% in 2002 to 30.6% in 2006; the main change of the vegetation coverage showed slight degradation during these years. And local improvement and general degradation coexist on the space pattern.
