Integrating open source knowledge management tools into library management for automation: A case study of Jaypee institute of information technology university

Knowledge Management is foremost demand of this digital era. This demand has greatly affected the ICT which has its direct impact on the human life. Knowledge Management is a very important tool for any business organization. It was previously used in the business domain but it can also be implemented in education sector too via digital libraries. This paper is based on the implementation of different Knowledge Management OSS tools and experiments which have been done in the JIIT University. These tools and experiments has been elaborated and discussed in this paper along with the various problems and their possible solutions. The paper discusses the techniques to bridge the knowledge gap by using open source software in enhancement and effectiveness of library information services. KM tools can be useful in similar institutions for implementing digital libraries to ensure smooth functioning and effective services.
