Abstract
Third-generation mobile radio systems will ensure the provision of several remote services, thus creating signals of sufficient bandwidth to produce frequency-selective fades. In these conditions a sufficiently sophisticated receiver can exploit knowingly the multipath diversity of the channel. This work aims to estimate the capacity, in the information-theoretic sense, of a selective-fading channel between N mobile units and a base station equipped with M diversity antennas. Increased capacity in the presence of selective fading is especially noted
