Abstract
Scalable video coder satisfies virtually any constraints imposed by several transmission, storage and display devices. Existing solutions and implementations of scalable coder scarifies performance in erroneous transmission conditions. There is a need to design and develop a coder that not only gracefully degrades the performance but also provide efficient error resilience against channel noise and attacks. Experimental results discussed in this paper demonstrate the error propagation through layered pyramidal coding and motivate the use of Probabilistic approach in motion estimation and need of new motion model for better error resilient solution. We also propose probabilistic motion estimation model for possibility of better error resilience video coding.
