Abstract :
Mentoring is a tool often linked with an induction process to facilitate the integration of a new employee into the role for which they have been recruited. The role is often otherwise generally treated in isolation, but increasingly there is justification for more widespread application of mentoring. Particular benefit can be attributed to the development of engineers, not only early on but also at times of change and in the context of continuing professional development (CPD).
