Abstract :
A high-gradient S-band RF gun with a thermionic LaB/sub 6/ cathodeis now under study at Sincrotrone Trieste, Italy, for future upgrading of the injection linac. A geometry of the accelerating structure has been designed using the OSCAR2D code and a prototype has been constructed and measured. The transverse and longitudinal dynamics of the particles along the injector have been simulated with a modified version of the PARMELA code. Simulation results are presented.<>
