Abstract :
As the high-speed train moves forward at a high speed, inevitably, it will go across the cell in a short time. In order to keep communication always on, the MS is required to perform handover operation at a short time. For IEEE 802.16e, there exists a serial of problems such as ambiguous timing of scanning and unnecessary memory resource consumption during scanning duration. Furthermore, for high-speed railway BWA system, some operations in the conventional handover procedure are redundant. To resolve those problems, according to the GPS information, we propose a cell reselection and handover decision algorithm, and also propose a handover scheme to omit the scanning operation and greatly shorten the operation time of the whole HO procedure.
