Abstract :
A new streaming video transmission and controlling strategy based on wavelet EBCOT coding over the wireless Internet is proposed in this paper. The strategy analyzes the bit streams encoded by EBCOT and packs to multiple transmission layers according to different importance. Then the strategy determines whether the present IP network is in the congestion situation or in unreliable transmission on the basis of estimating available network bandwidth by packet loss ratio and round trip time, then apply adaptive unequal packet loss protection to them. The experimental results show that the proposed scheme can highly improve the error resilience of the bit stream, as well as efficiently relieve the IP network congestion, and it can obtain up to 1.2 dB in PSNR when the transmission in unreliable.
