Abstract
In this paper mathematical morphology operators from binary image are extended to a wider class of operators, which are based on fuzzy set theory and fuzzy logic. The proposed operators are compatible with present operators for grey-scale images. A novel notion of connectivity for grey-scale images is introduced, defined by means of fuzzy logic operators assigned at fuzzy sets. A series of useful connectivity filters is proposed. Numerical experiments show the efficiency of these operators.
