Abstract :
Video monitoring systems have been widely used by some enterprises to improve industrial safety; however, they are not perfect tools for the job under the prevailing system configuration: there are few displays for a large number of video cameras and monitoring personnel may fail to detect all potential safety hazards as a result of their susceptibility to eye strain. In order to solve the problem, a kind of monitoring system is used in this paper. The system consists of video monitoring units and wireless monitoring units. The former is made up of video cameras and video capture cards, to be installed in office, factory buildings and warehouses. The latter is made up of ZigBee capturing, relay and central control nodes for monitoring humidity, temperature and smoke concentration. The wireless monitoring unit will activate alarms and make the video streams to the display when detecting any safety hazards. In this way, the system helps avoid dangers that may arise from system failure or operator negligence, thus improving industrial safety. A detailed introduction to the structure and design of the system is provided in this paper.
