Abstract
A modified GA called recursive GA is proposed to optimize the scheduling of direct load control strategies. The control strategy (or scheduling) arranged by the recursive GA not only shed the load so that the load required to be shed at each sampling interval is individually satisfied, but also minimize the shedding load to minimize the utility company´s revenue loss due to DLC. Moreover, the scheduling obtained by the proposed recursive GA tends to level off the accumulated shedding time of each load group to avoid customers´ complaints about fairness of shedding time
