Abstract
Theories of instability of strategic alliances have tended to focus on alliance outcomes and ignore the development process. This paper explores the key factors which may cause the instability of strategic alliances. From a process-oriented perspective, we suggest that partner selection, alliance structure, and scope of activities may have a significant relationship to instability of alliances.
