Abstract :
A fully automated environmental detection instrument based on a state-of-the-art technique, sequential injection analysis (SIA), which is operated by sophisticated electronics and computer software, is described in this paper. It is designed to be a user-friendly instrument and to have a variety of applications through the use of different software packages and the addition of modular components. The key modular component to perform highly sensitive detection of toxic chemical elements is a digital and computer-interfaceable spectrophotometer. Successful development of this instrument has shown that an advanced environmental protection and detection instrument must be supported by microprocessor-based electronics and sophisticated computer software
