Abstract :
In conventional TST networks m ≥ 2n - 1 time slots are needed for strict-sense non-blocking switch with n user per frame. Also, the TST has to use two layer of time slot interchange networks. In this paper, a totally new architecture is proposed. In this architecture, a hybrid space-time switch is used for the middle stage which switches TDM signals in time and space domain at the same time. It uses a delay network to delay a TDM signal for a particular call up to n - 1 time slots. The delay and incoming and outgoing time slot for a particular call is calculated using the algorithm given in this paper. As a result, the proposed switching architecture uses m = n time slots to make a strict-sense non-blocking switch with n user per frame. Also it uses only one layer of time slot interchangers.
