Abstract :
This paper provides a discussion of wireless access (WA) system requirements and how the advantages of WA apply to the Chinese access situation. Potentially lower cost, speed of deployment, equivalence with wireline services and less expensive OAM are all discussed. Furthermore, the role that WA could be expected to play in China´s long term access evolution is discussed. A number of deployment options for WA exist such as satellite, point-to-point microwave, fixed cellular systems and low power systems designed specifically for fixed application
