Abstract
In this paper, the potential of a real code genetic algorithms (GAs) for radio resource management scheme for use in high altitude platform station (HAPS) networks is proposed. An analytical model of the mobility management task is derived from the cell dimension that is formed by the antenna beams of the HAPS and user´s location. As an example of the scheme, a simulation is proposed where the traffic load in each spot beam/cell of the HAPS is estimated in Erlangs for each area as a function of time. Simulations are provided to examine the QoS performance of the system. The performance evaluation shows that the proposed model outperforms conventional schemes in terms of call blocking and call dropping probability.
