Abstract
The evolution of creatures in the biological world strongly depends on their ecosystem. Quite similarly, for a business, it can´t evolve without the support and influence comes from its business ecosystem. In this paper, the authors are intended to introduce a methodology of business ecology to disclose the relationship between the adaptability of IT business and its ecological factors. Based on this view of point, this paper has employed structural equation model (SEM) to achieve this goal. We argue that business ecological factors can be subdivided into three types, namely: external adaptive factor, external optimized factor, and internal capability factor. The results of the research shows that, there are direct causalities between the adaptability of IT business and its ecological factors; moreover, we have also found that the internal capability factor plays the most important role in the process of IT business´ evolution. Finally, we have concluded that an IT business could effectively improve its ecological adaptability by cultivating and embodying ultra-adaptability.
