Abstract :
Data envelopment analysis (DEA) measures the relative efficiency of decision making units (DMUs) with multiple inputs and multiple outputs. DEA-based Malmquist productivity index measures the productivity change over time. The Malmquist productivity index based on DEA can be decomposed into two components: efficiency change index and technical change index. Through utilizing the principle of isoquant, it can not only be gained that the management information of each component included in technical change index, but judge whether the trends of technical change of DMUs are favorable or not through decomposing the technical change index. Then an empirical analysis was made to illustrate this thought by taking 15 listed companies in electronic industry for example, results of which implicated that as a whole electronic industry had a favorable trend of technical change during evaluated period.
