Abstract
Cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) cable (CV cable) has joints and end parts which consist of various insulation materials usually called interfaces. The interfaces which exist between different and same insulation materials play an important role in electrical strength of the CV cable. A trial was performed on evaluating the electrical strength of the interface prepared previously between two block-like cross-linked polyethylenes. This paper describes experimental results for treeing resistance of the interface when an ac voltage with 50 Hz is applied. It was found that the interface had great influence on treeing resistance of cross-linked polyethylene
