Abstract :
The possible application of teletext to provide a good information system for passengers travelling by trains, buses and other similar means rather than by car is discussed. A brief description of the North American Broadcast Teletext System is provided. A Rician fading model is proposed for the VHF band and a shadowed Rician model for the UHF band. Space diversity using ratio combining, forward error correction and adaptive equalization are discussed for minimizing the received error rates
