Abstract :
The delay and throughput performance of a direct sequence CDMA network for integrated voice/data transmission is analyzed and compared to that of a TDMA system assuming various fading channel models. ARQ performance is analyzed for data while FEC using the same encoder is assumed for voice packets. The effect of the load of both classes of traffic on each other´s performance is predicted analytically assuming Markovian statistics for data and an interrupted Poisson process model for voice. Numerical results show that CDMA is expected to outperform TDMA for both voice and data in mobile frequency selective fading channels, but results were highly dependent on the fading model adopted
