Abstract :
In this paper, we briefly review the concepts of our 2-D modulation coding scheme for page-oriented optical data storage (PODS) and present another example of a 2-D modulation code. We then present a novel three-dimensional (3-D) modulation coding scheme that can mitigate both the effects of intersymbol interference (ISI) and the effects of interpage interference (IPI) in two-photon PODS systems. Design principles and an example of a 3-D modulation code derived from a new 2-D modulation code are also described.
