Abstract :
We present refinements of the original perfect lens which focuses both the near and the far electromagnetic fields. We show that the performance of the perfect lens can be enhanced significantly by slicing the original slab of negative refractive medium into layers. We introduce optical amplification in this layered system to compensate for absorption in the dissipative negative refractive media.
