Abstract
We report the first integrated optical bead device using a blue-violet LD (laser diode), which is a key device for realizing a small and thin-shaped Blu-ray Disc drive. While integrating seven optical parts into one device, by adopting a molded compound lens with high transmissivity to the blue-violet wavelength, the small size of 11 mm × 6 mm × 4.1 mm has been realized. At this time, we have played back a Blu-ray Disc media using this small optical bead device and have achieved a good jitter value of 7.3%.
