Abstract
MultiLevel (MLTM) technology was originally developed on a CD-R/RW base to achieve 2GB using trellis-coded (TCM) amplitude-modulation; the 2GB system can be manufactured without any changes to the drive or PUH except for the addition of our new ML Endec LSI and ML-specific firmware. We can now extend this technology to DVD (re)writable systems with a similar cost-effective approach.
