Abstract :
Design issues of dual mode band-pass filters are discussed. Dual mode regime of a circular patch resonator utilizes two degenerate TM110 modes with orthogonal polarizations. The coupling between these modes is achieved by means of open stubs. The strength and type (capacitive, inductive) of the intermode coupling is controlled by the size and location of the stub. Simulation results are given for two four-pole filters. Each of them consists of two dual-mode circular patch resonators. In one of the filters an inductive coupling is used between the patches, while capacitive coupling is used in the second one. Centre frequency of the filters is 3.9GHz; bandwidth 300MHz, transmission and return losses are 2 dB and ¿17.5dB accordingly.
