  • Abstract
    Recently, there has been considerable interest in the matrix converter technology. This paper presents a multimode operation of single-phase matrix converter (SPMC) topology. It works in two modes - direct AC-AC converter and AC-DC converter. The well-known sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) scheme is used to synthesize the output. Simulation is carried out in MATLAB/SIMULINK and results are presented for both modes of operation with step-up/down frequency operation for AC-AC mode and variable AC-DC conversion mode with different modulation index. The main purpose of this paper is to propose the new multimode single phase matrix converter topology for AC-AC conversion and AC-DC conversion using the single circuit. The results obtained confirms the proposed methodology.
