Abstract :
A rigorous mode matching method is used in the analysis of dielectric resonators loaded in a circular waveguide and on a substrate. This technique is capable of analysing all resonant modes and the electromagnetic fields associated with them. It can also be applied to the design of dielectric resonator oscillators and dielectric resonator filters, and to predict thermal variations in the resonant frequency. Variation of several lower order modes´ resonant frequencies as a function of structure parameters is presented. Two dimensional electric and magnetic field plots highlight the ambiguity of mode designation
