Abstract :
In this paper, the most versatile FACTS device UPFC is modelled and implemented in the SMIB (single machine infinite bus) system and standard 9 - bus system (Anderson and Fouad, 1977). The performances of these systems are simulated by using MATLAB. It has been found that the critical clearing time of the system has increased after including the UPFC. Hence the transient stability of the system has been enhanced.
