Abstract
Service economy will be a dominant position in the global economy, but the theory of service economy research is far behind the reality. Service science is conducted to provide theoretical basis and the analysis framework for the service economy. Concept of object and characteristics of the service science are discussed, and challenges and opportunities faced by development of the service science are analyzed.
