Abstract :
In this paper we present a 77 GHz 5th harmonic flip-chip Si-Schottky diode mixer developed in a hybrid microstrip technology, for use in an anti-collision car radar system. The design of the mixer is shown with special focus on several key elements like pads, shorts and via holes demonstrating the necessity of EM-simulations to assist the circuit simulator during the development process. The measurements show excellent conversion data - down to 22 dB conversion loss at 77 GHz and 10 dBm LO power.
