Structure recognition of on-line handwritten documents based on SGML

We propose a new framework for producing structured online handwritten documents and automatic recognition of their structure based on SGML. First, an online segmentation module extracts the specific layout structure of the document. Then, according to a document model or DTD, an automatic tagging module attributes logical tags to the layout objects and produces the document´s specific logical structure. Both layout and logical structures can be edited using integrated editors. In the last step, an SGML instance of the handwritten document is produced from its specific logical structure
