Abstract :
This paper investigates various techniques for improving the bandwidth such as using slotted radiating patch antennas, additional microstrip resonators etc and for reduction in size i.e. miniaturization as well such as using meandered microstrip patch antennas, microstrip planar inverted-F antenna etc of microstrip antennas for many practical applications of portable and broadband communication. This paper also provides a brief insight into various parameters that dictates designing of microstrip antennas such as the criteria for selection of substrates materials, substrate height and thickness.
