Abstract
As a result of rapid growth in electronic data gathering devices (EDGD), the amount of data that can be stored electronically has increased multifold. Though structuring the data at the storage level is feasible, literature review revealed that analysis of the data for meaningful interpretation needs to be stream lined. The methodology for mining (analysis and interpretation) of the structured data depends on the nature of the data collected, its end use and other related factors. Different classes of data call for different types of techniques for analysis and interpretation. The present paper attempts to investigate different types of data mining techniques available for processing and analyzing the data for useful interpretations. Numerical methods based on the method of least squares are proposed. The above method of mining covers most of the data covering the issues relating to the day to day happenings of the present society. Various results based on the present work are discussed and presented. The major findings of the present work are listed.
