Abstract :
Charge elimination using ions generated by corona discharge in N 2 gas is investigated. An electrode system composed of a needle and a disc electrode was used for a charge eliminator and Ions are took out of a small aperture of the disk by gas flow. The electrostatic charge on both sides of polymer film is satisfactorily eliminated at the same time using two eliminators. When the sample film is directly exposed to corona at the point of needle during charge eliminating treatment, it is observed that, after this treatment, the contact charging characteristics of polyethylene changed seriously. When the sample surface is indirectly exposed by conveying ions to the sample using a bent pipe, this effect can be avoided
