  • Abstract
The state of the art transportation management system integrates automatic vehicle location, in-vehicle systems, customer information networks and management information systems. As advanced technologies are integrated into transportation systems, the transit system becomes more efficient and reliable, which in turn makes it more attractive to users. Transit agencies are using automatic vehicle location coupled with computer aided dispatch as an integrated vehicle management solution to efficiently dispatch transit vehicles, promote reliable on time service, and improve the safety and security of the transit system
