  • Abstract
A novel generic LINC topology with multiple digital modulation capability is introduced. It uses two pairs of phase conjugated signals in quadrature to form any of the commonly used data communications modulation schemes, namely BPSK, QPSK, OQPSK, 8PSK, 16PSK, 8QAM, 16 QAM, etc. Due to the constant envelope of the composite signals forming each of the two signal pairs the requirements for linear amplification normally associated with these modulation schemes are removed, hence highly DC to RF efficient non-linear amplifiers can be used. In addition the system is shown to have natural harmonic suppression. Further, output power control, e.g. required for CDMA, can be executed without the need for amplifler level/bias control or attenuators.
